Tom Sloane

Tom is an Aboriginal Artist (Murri Boy) living in Dubbo. He has worked on community projects and currently works with disadvantaged youth on skill development and educational support. Tom is a gentle and unassuming man whose artworks have a voice of their own. Inspired by the Wiradjuri language and native animals of the bush, Tom has been drawing and painting for most of his life. For many years he shied away from the limelight and it is only in recent times that Tom has been actively showing and selling his works. Using nature€s palette, Tom enjoys the rich browns and reds of the land, also calling in shades of blue and green. Employing the traditional dot technique, Tom painstakingly works on a piece for up to a week until it is completed. He also sources his own natural materials for items such as the didgeridoo and boomerang. Tom grew up on the Murie reserve and now lives in Dubbo with his family. He is a father of six, three of whom show artistic talents like their father.
